Founding Director of High Tech Middle Chula Vista

Melissa Daniels is the founding director of High Tech Middle Chula Vista, the fourth middle school in the High Tech High network of charter schools located in San Diego, California. Melissa began her teaching career at international schools in both Cairo, Egypt and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. After teaching internationally for seven years, Melissa joined High Tech High in 2006. In addition to her role as school director, she is an adjunct faculty member in the High Tech High Graduate School of Education, in which she has led courses in facilitating adult learning and leading progressive schools.

Yes, we must prepare students for life after school. But young people are also capable of doing meaningful work right now. In this keynote, Melissa will highlight examples of rich project work that gives students opportunities to contribute in meaningful ways to the world around them, learn rigorous content, and develop the skills they need for the present and the future.
